Bangkok: The Minister of Defence expressed strong support for the innovative proposals presented by the National Defence College, Class 3, under the theme "THAIs: From Thai Wisdoms to Thai Vision." The presentation underscored the necessity for future leaders to anticipate challenges, consider comprehensive security dimensions, and leverage technology to boost national capabilities. The Minister prepared a concise 3-minute summary of the proposals for government review, aiming to utilize the insights for national development.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant General Adul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Defence, presided over the presentation at the National Defence College's Multipurpose Building. The event was attended by key figures such as Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, General Ukrit Boontanon, Chief of Defence Forces, and representatives from the armed forces branches. The students introduced a framework of "5 National Capabilities" essential for Thailand's stability and competitiveness in the next 10-15 years, emphasizing the shift from tackling current issues to building future capabilities amid an interconnected global landscape.
The research initiative commenced with a thorough collection of data from academic sources, national strategies, and practitioner experiences, compiled into the "THAIs Corpus." Artificial intelligence was employed to uncover patterns, with the resulting synthesis highlighting five capabilities-Technology, Human, Accessibility and Assets, Infrastructure, and Security and Resilience-integrated into a unified "Five Forces, One Future" system.
The proposals advocate for enhancing existing government initiatives by focusing on essential national capabilities, transitioning from project funding to result-oriented purchases, and leveraging government purchasing power to foster Thai technological growth. Mr. Phatthana Phromphat, Minister of Public Health and NDC alumnus, emphasized the need for self-reliant technological development, resource sufficiency, and robust infrastructure to ensure national security.
Lieutenant General Adul tasked the students with condensing their insights for presentation to the Prime Minister, highlighting the importance of strategic foresight in leadership.
