Bangkok: The Democrat Party has expressed regret over the recent attack on the Bukeh Sami checkpoint, emphasizing the need for centralized policies to address the ongoing insurgency in southern Thailand. The party cited issues stemming from conflicting communication between policy formulation and implementation.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Natthakan Chuchana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Democrat Party, addressed the unrest in the southern border provinces following the attack on July 22nd in Tan Yong Mas Subdistrict, Ra-ngae District, Narathiwat Province. He extended his condolences to the families of the five officers who were killed and expressed support to all those affected by the ongoing violence since 2004.

Mr. Natthakan urged the Prime Minister to develop a more cohesive and unified approach to managing the southern border provinces. He highlighted a disconnect between the policy-making processes led by the Minister of Defense and the execution by the military. While the Democrat Party supports decisive action against those responsible for the unrest, Mr. Natthakan stressed that such actions must adhere strictly to the rule of law.

The Democrat Party has consistently focused on resolving the unrest in the three southern border provinces. On June 18th, Mr. Chuan Leekpai, a Democrat Party MP, questioned the Prime Minister on the implementation of policies aimed at resolving the issues in these provinces, referencing the 'Understanding, Accessing, and Developing' initiative endorsed by His Majesty the King and announced by the Cabinet to Parliament. Mr. Natthakan emphasized the importance of fostering shared understanding for effective solutions.
