Deputy Minister of Defense Visits Narathiwat Amidst Ongoing Violence to Offer Support

Narathiwat: Deputy Minister of Defense Gen. Nattapol Nakphanit made an urgent visit to Narathiwat Province to provide moral support amidst ongoing violence in the area, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of all citizens. The visit highlights the government’s efforts to address concerns and adjust security measures to enhance public confidence.

According to Thai News Agency, Gen. Nattapol’s itinerary included paying respects to Phra Dhammawatchariyachan, Advisor to the Sangha Region 18 and Abbot of Wat Prachumchonthara, and engaging with Thai Buddhists at Wat Khao Kong, Mueang Narathiwat District. During these interactions, he gathered suggestions from the community to present to the government, aiming to drive peace talks in the southern border provinces. Thai Buddhists emphasized the need for effective law enforcement to build local confidence.

The Deputy Minister also met with Mr. Safi’i Jehlo, Chairman of the Islamic Committee of Narathiwat Province, and other religious leaders. The Chairman expressed his commitment to the royal strategy of “Understanding, Reaching, Developing” as a framework for fostering coexistence in a multicultural society. He assured support for government initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable peace in the region.

Gen. Nattapol underscored the government’s concern for all citizens and the importance of listening to diverse perspectives to address the situation effectively. Reports from Lt. Gen. Paisal Noosang, Commander of the 4th Army and Director of Internal Security Operations Region 4, indicated that security agencies are enhancing their operational methods to ensure the safety and security of the community.

Additionally, Army Commander General Pana Klaewplodthuk visited the southern border provinces to coordinate with security agencies at the Narathiwat Task Force Headquarters, Kalayaniwattana Camp. He emphasized the significance of intelligence work at various levels and set goals to track down violent groups and bring perpetrators to justice.
