Bangkok: The Deputy Commissioner General of Police visited Thung Song Police Station to hold a meeting and emphasize operational procedures in cases of serious firearms incidents. He ordered a swift investigation into high-risk individuals and a review of tactical training to prevent further serious crimes.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Gen. Thatchai Pitanilabutr, Deputy Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, revealed that Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, has ordered strict measures to ensure the safety of the public in all situations. He also instructed a review of tactical training for responding to incidents, so that police nationwide can act promptly and effectively when serious crimes occur.
Yesterday, Pol. Gen. Thatchai visited the area to hold a meeting and emphasize operational guidelines following a serious shooting incident in the Thung Lung Police Station area of Songkhla Province. He ordered an updated survey of high-risk individuals in the area, a review of shortcomings from the incident, and the improvement of measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again. He stressed that incidents involving violent individuals should be considered heinous crimes requiring urgent attention in order to restore public confidence.
Furthermore, police officers were instructed to review tactical training in dealing with violent individuals, and each provincial police force was tasked with overseeing the establishment of response units at every police station to suppress serious crimes such as robbery, violent acts, and public hazards. They were also instructed to oversee the integration of the IBOC camera system with CCTV cameras in educational institutions in the area.
Pol. Gen. Thatchai said he has instructed all police officers in all areas to prioritize incidents involving violent individuals and heinous crimes. They must closely monitor the situation and learn from these incidents to implement preventative measures to avoid recurrence. This is to ensure the highest level of public confidence in safety.
