Chiang mai: Doi Inthanon recorded its coldest temperature of the year at -3.6 degrees Celsius, with frost covering the mountaintop.

According to Thai News Agency, the chilling temperature led to frost forming on the grass and across the mountaintop, including on cars.

The dew drops condensed into hoarfrost, creating a cold experience that excited tourists. At the Kew Mae Pan viewpoint, a popular location on Doi Inthanon, tourists gathered early to experience the cold weather. The temperature at this viewpoint was recorded at 5 degrees Celsius. Visitors waited to watch the first rays of sunlight and admire the sea of mist. It is anticipated that tens of thousands of tourists will visit Doi Inthanon during the New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day celebrations to experience the cold weather.
