Bangkok: The Don’t Drink and Drive Foundation has submitted a letter to the Prime Minister, urging Thai citizens to refrain from, reduce, and ultimately stop engaging in risky behaviors such as drink driving, particularly during the New Year’s holiday period for enhanced safety.
According to Thai News Agency, the foundation, led by Dr. Taejing Siripanich, along with nine individuals who have been victims of drunk driving incidents, traveled to the Government House’s Command Building 1. They submitted the letter to Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, through the Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson, Siripong Angkasakulkiat. The letter calls on the Prime Minister to encourage the public to “refrain, reduce, and quit” dangerous driving behaviors and to avoid drink driving during the upcoming New Year 2026 festival.
The foundation emphasizes that parties involving alcohol consumption should be avoided, and if that is not possible, individuals should completely abstain from alcohol if they plan to drive. This initiative aims to safeguard the lives of drivers and other road users during the festive period.
