Bangkok: Dr. Jetsada Tonawanik, the Rak Chart Party's prime ministerial candidate, has raised concerns about the current political landscape, emphasizing that major parties are more focused on seizing power than protecting the monarchy.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Jetsada expressed his views during an interview where he outlined the Rak Chart Party's political stance, portraying the party as an "indicator" of both good and bad in the political arena. He pledged to openly criticize the work and ideology of all major political parties.
Dr. Jetsada highlighted that the Rak Chart Party is committed to being a serious player in Thai politics, regardless of its size. He stated that the party would serve as a point of reference for assessing the political climate, indicating when things are negative or problematic. During his nationwide campaign, he engaged with the public to understand their concerns about various political parties, including questions about the Pheu Thai Party's handling of border security and the People's Party's stance on the new constitution draft, especially chapters concerning the monarchy.
Dr. Jetsada criticized the People's Party for not providing clear answers about the intention behind the new constitution draft, particularly regarding the monarch's powers. He also took aim at the Chart Thai Party's prime ministerial candidate for losing ideological focus and at the Democrat Party for showing signs of political opportunism. The Bhumjaithai Party faced criticism for supporting a new constitution draft that could lead to division rather than protecting core institutions.
Dr. Jetsada assessed the potential future government formation, suggesting that major parties represented by orange, red, and blue are primarily focused on gaining votes and forming a government without genuinely considering the protection of the country. He reiterated the Rak Chart Party's opposition to the drafting of a new constitution and its commitment to safeguarding the nation's institutions.
He concluded by urging citizens to consider their choices carefully, emphasizing the need to select representatives who would prevent the nation's destruction rather than contribute to it. Dr. Jetsada's remarks reflect his dedication to scrutinizing and balancing the forces within parliament, regardless of the Rak Chart Party's size.
