Nakhon Ratchasima: Dr. Wanrat Chananukul, the prospective mayor of Nakhon Ratchasima from the Chart Pattana Party, expressed gratitude to the people of Korat by riding in a parade vehicle around the city. The celebration followed his victory in the mayoral election, marking a significant comeback for the Chart Pattana Party in the city. Dr. Wanrat, along with municipal council members, thanked constituents for their support and pledged to administer the city with honesty and integrity.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Wanrat was warmly welcomed by the people of Korat during the parade, with many residents coming out to wave and congratulate him. Following the announcement of the unofficial election results, he assured the public of his commitment to begin work immediately after official certification. Dr. Wanrat emphasized managing the city’s affairs with transparency, focusing on public benefits.
Dr. Wanrat attributed his victory to the Chart Pattana Party’s strong reputation in Korat and the impressive achievements of the city’s former mayor from the same party. He outlined plans to transform Korat into a city of opportunity by addressing urgent issues such as the water supply system. This includes improving pipe system efficiency and implementing a leakage inspection system to ensure equitable water distribution.
In addressing waste management, Dr. Wanrat intends to reduce urban waste and explore disposal options outside the city through negotiations with relevant agencies. His policy vision for Korat includes developing the city as a green city by expanding public park areas and pursuing the goal of becoming a Smart City.
Economically, Dr. Wanrat plans to leverage soft power to attract tourists, focusing on sports activities, spiritual tourism, and developing new attractions to boost city revenue. Initiatives to support local entrepreneurs include organizing conferences and creating community markets to stimulate the grassroots economy.
Dr. Wanrat also mentioned receiving congratulatory calls from party leaders Mr. Suwat Liptapanlop and Mr. Thewan Liptapanlop, urging him to work diligently for Korat’s citizens. In the unofficial count, Dr. Wanrat secured a landslide victory with 21,043 votes, far surpassing Phongyuth Suphattawanich from the Prachachon Party, who garnered 10,236 votes. Additionally, his group secured all 24 municipal council seats in each constituency.
