Bangkok: The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) spokesperson has issued instructions to its legal division to pursue prosecution against a group of individuals responsible for leaking crucial evidence related to the Senate collusion case to the public. This decision comes amid concerns that the leak could undermine the integrity of the justice system. The spokesperson clarified that the legal action is not influenced by political pressure nor intended to discredit any political factions, including iLaw or the People's Party MPs, despite the upcoming ruling by the Election Commission on the case.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Woranan Srilam, the spokesperson for the DSI, elaborated on the situation by stating that the DSI Director-General has authorized the Legal Division to file a formal complaint with the Crime Suppression Division. This complaint pertains to the unauthorized release of documents from the investigation file concerning the Senate collusion case. Col. Srilam emphasized that such leaks have significantly damaged the DSI's work and eroded public trust in the justice process. Additionally, he highlighted that the leak constitutes an offense related to official documents, which should be presented in court strictly in the presence of all parties involved, rather than being exposed to the public.
Col. Srilam refrained from making any assumptions about potential "internal sabotage," noting that the investigation is ongoing. He assured that the team handling the Senate collusion case is prepared to cooperate fully with the Crime Suppression Division and provide necessary statements. He also mentioned that it remains uncertain whether the case file was leaked from within the DSI, as the documents had been forwarded to the Special Prosecutor's Office before being returned. Regarding allegations involving the previous government, specifically Pol. Maj. Gen. Tawee Sodsong, Col. Srilam requested patience until the investigation is concluded to ensure transparency and fairness. Furthermore, he confirmed that the source of the leak involving personal and mobile phone data of Paradorn is under investigation following Paradorn's request for assistance from the DSI Director-General.
It was reiterated that the legal proceedings are not intended to discredit any party, even as the Election Commission is set to consider prosecuting those implicated in the Senate collusion case on August 28, 2026. The improper disclosure of evidence has a detrimental impact on public confidence in the justice system, necessitating action. The DSI emphasizes that the move is devoid of political motivation, and the determination of who will face prosecution lies with the investigating officers.
