DSI Submits Iris Scanning Scandal Case to NACC for Further Investigation

Nonthaburi: The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has concluded its investigation into the iris scanning scandal and submitted the case file to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for further investigation. This case involves a controversial iris scanning scheme that allegedly extracted data from 1.2 million Thai citizens and was used in exchange for digital coins.

According to Thai News Agency, the DSI has delivered six boxes containing ten files and approximately 5,000 pages of documents to the NACC office in Nonthaburi. This move follows a comprehensive investigation by a fact-finding committee from the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), which, alongside DSI evidence, identified six political appointees and government officials from the DE Ministry as being involved in the memorandum of understanding (MOU) related to the scheme.

The NACC now faces the decision of whether to take over the entire investigation or return parts of the case to the DSI for further action. The outcome of the NACC's decision could have significant implications on how the case proceeds and on the individuals implicated in the scandal.
