Edwards Lifesciences Thailand Marks 25 Years of Advancing Heart Valve Treatments

Bangkok:Edwards Lifesciences Thailand celebrated its 25th anniversary, emphasizing its ongoing efforts to enhance access to heart valve treatments for Thai patients. Since its inception in 2000, the company has collaborated with various healthcare stakeholders to improve treatment options and outcomes for heart valve disease.

According to Thai News Agency, the "One Edwards Thailand" 25th Anniversary Celebration took place in September 2026 at the company's office in the Silom Complex, Bangkok. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including the Commercial Counselor from the U.S. Embassy in Thailand, the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, and key partners who have been instrumental in Edwards' journey in the country.

Mr. Aaron Rangel, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Public Affairs, Japan and Asia Pacific at Edwards Lifesciences, highlighted the significance of the milestone, noting the company's dedication to collaborating with leading hospitals and medical professionals in Thailand. He emphasized that Edwards remains committed to investing in innovation, education, and access to technology to improve patient care and outcomes.

The event also addressed the broader context of cardiovascular disease, which remains a leading cause of death globally. Heart valve disease, characterized by valve abnormalities that impede blood flow, is a significant concern, particularly in Thailand, with its aging population of approximately 12 million elderly individuals.

Edwards Lifesciences has been at the forefront of technological advances in heart valve treatment, evolving from artificial heart valves for open-heart surgery to less invasive catheter-based treatments. These innovations have been supported by a collaborative approach involving physicians, hospitals, and the private sector, leading to improved treatment capabilities and patient care across Thailand.

The success of these efforts was illustrated by the story of an 86-year-old patient who underwent a transcatheter aortic valve replacement procedure at Siriraj Hospital. This patient, who had previously undergone heart bypass surgery, experienced a significant improvement in quality of life post-treatment, underscoring the value of timely medical intervention.

Looking ahead, Mr. Parameswaran Nair, Head of India and Southeast Asia at Edwards Lifesciences, reiterated the company's commitment to expanding access to innovative treatments and enhancing the healthcare ecosystem in Thailand. By working closely with healthcare providers and policymakers, Edwards aims to ensure that more patients can benefit from life-changing cardiac treatments in the future.
