EEC Expects High-Speed Rail Proposal to Reach Cabinet Next Week.

Bangkok: The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Policy Committee plans to propose amendments to the concession contract for a high-speed rail project connecting three airports to the Cabinet next week. The project anticipates an investment of 300 billion baht, with construction expected to start in January 2025 and completion targeted for 2029-2030.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the EEC Policy Committee, stated that if the Cabinet approves the proposal, it will then be forwarded to the Attorney General for examination. The contract could be signed within this year. The project is part of a broader investment strategy that includes other infrastructure developments.

The expansion of Laem Chabang Port Phase 3 and Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Phase 3 is proceeding as planned. Once completed, these projects are expected to enhance export and import capabilities. The government is responsible for the construction, while the private sector will handle equipment and port manag
ement.

In 2025, investments in various infrastructure projects, including high-speed trains, ports, and airport expansions, are expected to exceed 200 billion baht. Additionally, new industrial bases will attract investments from both Thai and foreign investors, contributing over 100 billion baht. This cumulative investment is projected to surpass 300 billion baht in the coming year.
