Bangkok: “Ekanat” urges the public to disregard circulating rumors about a potential cabinet reshuffle, asserting that there are no indications of such changes on the horizon. Mr. Ekkanat Promphan, the Minister of Industry and Secretary-General of the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party, emphasized the uncertainty in politics and the futility of speculation. He remains committed to his ministerial duties, particularly addressing the issues surrounding the zero-dollar industries, which he considers a priority.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ekkanat clarified that he had not received any signals regarding a cabinet reshuffle from either Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, or Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, who also leads the party. He noted that any reshuffle would require notification to the party leader, who has only been involved in discussions about ministry-specific work. Mr. Pirapan, for instance, is focused on reducing electricity prices to below 4 baht. Meanwhile, Mr. Ekkanat is concentrating on resolving the challenges posed by the zero-dollar industries, which negatively impact the country’s economic value and public safety.
Political analysts had previously speculated that the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party might be targeted for a reshuffle, but attention has since shifted to the Bhumjaithai Party. Mr. Ekkanat expressed that his current focus is on performing his duties effectively rather than engaging in political conjecture. He remarked, “Politics is not certain. If I talk, I will be wrong and right. Making predictions all the time is useless. What is important is what we do while we are ministers.”
In response to rumors suggesting that private companies might influence ministerial positions through financial means, Mr. Ekkanat dismissed such claims. He emphasized that he is unperturbed by these rumors and remains dedicated to his work. He stated, “If someone like me did not dare to do it, I do not know who would dare to do it.”
Regarding any investigations into these rumors or their potential connection to cabinet reshuffle news, Mr. Ekkanat reiterated that he does not prioritize such matters. While acknowledging that some rumors may hold truth, he advised seeking insights from those more knowledgeable.
