Sisaket: The Election Commission inspected the materials and equipment for the Sisaket Constituency 5 election tomorrow (28 Sept. 2025). Saeng revealed that there were 4 complaints regarding campaign speeches.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Saeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission of Thailand (ECT), and his team visited Sisaket Province to monitor preparations for the upcoming general election for the vacant position of Member of Parliament in Constituency 5. They visited Khun Han District to observe the inspection of election materials at the Khun Han Witthayasarn School auditorium in Khun Han District and at the Singhakiri Community Hall at the Phusing District Office in Sisaket Province.
Mr. Sa-nguan stated that after observing the receipt of materials and equipment at Khun Han District, which has 150 units, and interviewing relevant officials, he confirmed that everything is ready. He also confirmed the readiness of the unit committees for tomorrow’s election day (September 28th), which will facilitate eligible voters at all 236 units in Khun Han and Phusing Districts. He believes everything will proceed smoothly from the time voting opens at 8:00 a.m. until the polls close at 5:00 p.m., and until the vote count is complete.
When asked about contingency plans in the event of potential unrest between Thailand and Cambodia, Mr. Sawaeng stated that, prior to today’s date, we had been conducting regular assessments with relevant parties, including security, government, and the public, before setting September 28th as the election date. The assessments were: 1. We have confidence in the security, government, and our agencies; 2. People have returned to normal life; and 3. We have held public meetings with relevant parties, including government agencies, civil society, and residents in both districts. Everyone wants representatives and the right to vote. These three events led us to set September 28th as the election date.
Mr. Sa-nguan also addressed the competitive election atmosphere, stating that both sides are bound by the rules, and that there may be some conflicts during campaigning. He described the intense competition as a demonstration of public interest and a drive to encourage people to vote. Regarding complaints, they stem from campaigning and speeches. He stated that there are currently four complaints, which need to be investigated to determine whether they constitute violations. These are currently being handled by the provincial Election Commission office.
The election for the Sisaket Constituency 5 MP seat is to replace the deceased Pheu Thai Party MP, Mr. Amontep Sommai. The constituency comprises Khun Han and Phu Sing districts, totaling 236 polling stations. There are two candidates running: Ms. Phurika Sommai of the Pheu Thai Party, No. 1, and Ms. Jintawan Traisaranakul of the Bhumjaithai Party. The election will take place tomorrow (September 28) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
