Bangkok: The Election Commission has advised that any concerns or doubts should be promptly raised at the polling station to ensure a smooth electoral process.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Sitthichot Intrawises, a member of the Election Commission, monitored the voting activities for both parliamentary elections and the referendum at polling stations 18-26 in Constituency 30, located near Khlong Nong Yai School in Bang Khae District, Bangkok.
Mr. Sitthichot noted a significant turnout of voters since the morning, leading to long queues at many polling stations. He expressed satisfaction with the public’s active participation in the voting process, emphasizing the importance of this exercise in contributing to national development. This election also encompassed a referendum on constitutional amendments, which, if passed in the first round, would lead to two to three subsequent referendums.
The overall election environment across the country has been calm, with the exception of the long lines caused by the high number of voters. This turnout is seen as a testament to the public’s awareness and engagement in democratic processes. Mr. Sitthichot highlighted that once voting concludes at 5:00 PM, election officials will begin counting votes for constituency-based elections, party-list elections, and the referendums. This process may take longer than typical general elections.
To maintain transparency and accuracy, Mr. Sitthichot urged election observers to immediately report any irregularities encountered during the vote counting process, allowing for swift corrections and resolutions at the polling station level. The Election Commission anticipates that by 7:00-8:00 PM, a clear indication of the leading political party will emerge.
