Emergency Decree Extended for Southern Border Provinces

Bangkok:The Cabinet has approved extending the state of emergency in the southern border provinces for another three months, from October 20, 2026, to January 19, 2027. This extension marks the 86th time the decree has been extended.

According to Thai News Agency, the state of emergency will cover all areas except specific districts within the three provinces. In Narathiwat Province, the exempted districts are Yingor, Waeng, and Sukhirin. In Pattani Province, the decree will not apply to Ya Haring, Panare, Mayo, Maikhaen, Thung Yang Daeng, Kapho, and Mae Lan districts. Meanwhile, in Yala Province, Betong, Yaha, Raman, Kabang, and Krong Pinang districts are excluded.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the draft announcement related to this extension and confirmed the ongoing validity of prior declarations and orders issued under the state of emergency. The Cabinet also acknowledged the draft announcement that states the Prime Minister's declarations and orders will remain in effect.
