Eminem Challenges ‘Swim Shady’ Trademark at US Patent Office

Los angeles: Eminem has taken legal action against the Australian beach umbrella brand Swim Shady, urging the United States Patent and Trademark Office to cancel its trademark. Eminem’s representatives argue that the brand’s name closely resembles his well-known moniker, Slim Shady, potentially causing confusion among consumers.

According to Thai News Agency, the rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, has maintained the Slim Shady trademark since the late 1990s, utilizing it across a variety of merchandise, concerts, record labels, and albums. The Swim Shady brand is now under a 60-day window to respond to the filing through legal representation.

This lawsuit adds to Eminem’s history of protecting his trademark rights. Past cases involved the clothing brand ‘Shadzy,’ which he successfully challenged, as well as the sunglasses brand Shady Character. More recently, Eminem is involved in a legal dispute with Real Housewives stars Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon over their podcast name, Reasonably Shady, which remains unresolved.
