Bangkok: The final debate on MCOT's "In-Depth Look at the 2026 Election" program has revealed the policy agendas of the four prime ministerial candidates from the Democrat Party (DP), Bhumjaithai Party (BJT), Palang Pracharath Party (PPRP), and Pheu Thai Party (PT), outlining their immediate actions post-election. According to Thai News Agency, Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party and prime ministerial candidate, emphasized the party's focus on eradicating poverty in Thailand. This includes six key initiatives such as providing relief to people in Hat Yai and border areas, cracking down on illicit activities, preparing a budget to support welfare policies, enhancing government oversight, enacting legislation to boost economic growth, and establishing an international economic team to attract foreign investment. If in opposition, Abhisit plans to scrutinize political party promises, focus on illicit activities, and push for constitutional amendments. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, representing the Bhumjai thai Party, called for higher political standards and accountability. He highlighted economic policies similar across parties focusing on stimulus and quality of life improvements. Should his party be in opposition, Sihasak aims to scrutinize irregularities and offer constructive suggestions, prioritizing the country's interests. Ms. Sirikanya Tansakul, the Deputy Leader of the People's Party, outlined the first 100 days of her party's government focusing on economic revitalization, combating corruption, and providing relief in specific regions. Her agenda includes restructuring farmers' debts, improving air quality, and supporting SMEs. In opposition, her focus would be on legislative work, with bills like the Clean Air Act and Labor Protection Act being priorities. Mr. Julaphan Amornvivat of the Pheu Thai Party prioritized building a strong cabinet and aligning the budget with policy goals such as debt relief and poverty alleviation. He stressed the importance of selecting ministers with integrity and exp ertise.
