General Boonsin Denies Involvement in Defense Budget Audio Clip

Bangkok: General Boonsin has refuted allegations surrounding an audio clip that linked him to discussions about the defense budget, asserting his non-involvement in political matters and labeling the claims as entirely false.

According to Thai News Agency, on February 5, 2026, General Boonsin Padklang, who serves as an advisor to the Army's Commander-in-Chief, addressed the controversy regarding an audio recording that surfaced on social media. The clip implied that if the army's budget hadn't been reduced, certain losses might have been avoided and situations could have been resolved more swiftly with usual funding, while also commenting on the efficiency of military equipment.

General Boonsin firmly denied the authenticity of the audio clip, stating that he never made such comments. He stressed his complete detachment from political affairs and any expression of political views.

He further explained that his role in lectures was purely focused on promoting patriotism, religious respect, and loyalty to the monarchy. He clarified that discussions on Thai politics or military budget issues were never part of his engagements, countering the allegations made.

'I reiterate that I am not involved in politics and am only ready to perform my duties as a lecturer to instill the ideology of patriotism, religion, and the monarchy, as assigned,' General Boonsin affirmed.
