Buriram: A mother in Buriram constructed a cage-like room in her home for her 42-year-old son who was set to return from drug addiction treatment. This act, however, raised legal concerns, prompting officials to intervene and provide assistance to ensure appropriate treatment methods are pursued.
According to Thai News Agency, the mother, whose actions were initially perceived as a violation of the law, aimed to create a controlled environment for her son in hopes of preventing a relapse. The authorities, upon learning of the situation, visited the family to offer support and explore alternative solutions that align with legal and therapeutic standards.
The officials are now working closely with the family to develop a plan that addresses the son’s rehabilitation needs without resorting to confinement. They emphasize the importance of combining professional medical treatment with family support to aid in the recovery process.
