Bangkok: A Finnish village head has raised concerns with the Office of the Attorney General regarding a manipulated video clip linked to an online gambling website.
According to Thai News Agency, Thitiwut Warun, popularly known as Big and also recognized as “Phu Yai Ban Finland,” is a prominent YouTuber and Morlam singer who recently filed a complaint with the Cyber Police. The complaint was directed to Pol. Maj. Gen. Chatchapanthakarn Klayklueng, Deputy Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division. This action was taken after scammers used AI technology to alter Warun’s image and voice, falsely portraying him as promoting online gambling. The manipulated content has been shared on platforms such as TikTok and Facebook, accumulating tens of millions of views across over 10 accounts. These views have surpassed those on Warun’s main channel, leading many to mistakenly believe that he endorses gambling.
Warun stressed that the altered clips are so convincingly edited that it is challenging for the public to discern their authenticity. He reiterated that gambling is illegal and that he has never promoted it. Warun urged the public to be cautious when consuming online content and warned against believing such advertisements. He highlighted that several individuals, including those within his circle, have fallen victim to these misleading ads. In response, he has sought legal intervention to curb the spread of such deceptive practices.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Chatchapanthakarn acknowledged the complaint and has instructed the Technology Crime Suppression Division 1 to swiftly investigate the origins of the manipulated clips. The goal is to gather evidence to present to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, which may then take legal measures, including seeking a court order to block the implicated websites.
