Fire Destroys Tire Recycling Factory in Krathum Baen

Krathum baen: Firefighters mobilized to extinguish a raging blaze at a tire recycling factory in Krathum Baen district, Samut Sakhon province. The fire has completely destroyed the building, with estimated damages exceeding 30 million baht.

According to Thai News Agency, a fire broke out at a tire recycling plant on a plot of land measuring over 2 rai (approximately 0.8 acres) in Krathum Baen District, Samut Sakhon Province. The flames raged fiercely, and over 20 fire trucks were deployed, but narrow roads with only one access point hampered efforts to extinguish the blaze.

The Krathum Baen district chief estimates that it will take all day to bring the fire under control due to the large quantity of old tires. Excavators will be needed to clear the piles of tires before water is sprayed underneath. Further investigation will be conducted to determine the permits for importing the old tires for recycling, as well as the business license. Meanwhile, investigators will question the factory owner and witnesses, and examine the scene for evidence.

The factory owner said the factory has been operating for over 20 years. The incident occurred in the early morning hours. Fortunately, the family and workers all escaped safely. The cause is believed to be an electrical short circuit. The damage is estimated at 30-40 million baht.
