Pathum thani: A vehicle caught fire inside a two-story townhouse garage in Khlong Luang district on Sunday morning after being left plugged in to charge overnight. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within an hour, preventing it from spreading to the house. No injuries were reported.

According to Thai News Agency, the owner, Phawatkun, stated that he plugged in the white vehicle at around 10:00 PM before going to sleep. At approximately 8:00 AM, a security guard alerted him after noticing smoke coming from the car. The owner unplugged the vehicle and opened the door, at which point heavy smoke emerged.

Preliminary assessments suggest the incident may have originated from overheating in the hybrid battery system, though the exact cause remains undetermined. The owner noted that no warning signs or error messages appeared on the vehicle's dashboard prior to the incident.

The vehicle, a secondhand purchase driven for about two years with an estimated total age of four years, sustained damage confined to the vehicle. The owner has filed a claim with his first-class insurance provider and plans to coordinate with the authorized service center to investigate the exact cause.
