Bangkok: A fire at a furniture factory in the Lat Krabang area of Bangkok continues to burn out of control, with efforts ongoing to extinguish the flames. The fire originated in the basement of the factory located on Soi Chalong Krung 55 in the Lam Pla Thio Subdistrict and has been raging since last evening. Emergency services are on the ground, working tirelessly to manage the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt has personally visited the site alongside a team of engineers, police, and rescue teams, to evaluate the extent of the damage. The governor has tasked Dr. Surachit Pongsingwittaya, President of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council, and Mr. Tharapong Petchkong, Director of the Lat Krabang District Office, with establishing a command center at the scene to coordinate efforts.
Firefighters have disclosed that efforts to control the fire are hampered by the intense smoke and heat emanating from the basement, making it impossible to enter without specialized equipment and oxygen masks. Fortunately, there have been no reports of people trapped, injured, or deceased within the factory premises.
The Lat Krabang District Office has responded by setting up an incident command center and a shelter at Lamphong School to accommodate affected residents from nearby communities. Governor Chadchart has assured that all necessary measures are being taken to resolve the situation, with expectations to have the fire under control by noon today.
