Forex Trading Case Hearing Postponed for Further Investigation

Ratchadaphisek:The Special Prosecutor's Office has decided to postpone the hearing regarding the indictment of Pawawut, Film, and others involved in the forex trading case until November 5. This delay is due to ongoing investigations.

According to Thai News Agency, prosecutors from the Special Cases Division 4 convened at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, located on Ratchadaphisek Road, to discuss the case. The investigation involves 34 suspects, which include 10 legal entities and 24 individuals, such as Mr. Pawut Pongwitayapanu, a list MP from the People's Party, and Mr. Rattapoom Tokongsap, also known as Film, a former actor and singer.

The charges presented in this case are serious, including conspiracy to defraud the public through a pyramid scheme, conspiracy to defraud the public, conspiracy to import computer data into a system, and conspiracy to launder money.

On the day of the scheduled hearing, the defendants arrived at the prosecutor's office. Mr. Pawut Pongwitayaphanu was one of the first to arrive at around 9:00 AM, opting not to speak with the media. Subsequently, Mr. Rattapoom Tokongsap arrived at 10:00 AM with his lawyer, Mr. Phromsorn U-ngern, and acknowledged the postponement but was unaware of the specific reasons.

Mr. Surachet Ngamwong, Director-General of the Special Cases Division and Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Attorney General, confirmed the hearing was postponed to allow more time for investigation. Meanwhile, Mr. Phromsorn stated that no detention request has been filed, and the case is still under review by the Special Prosecutor's Office, with a request for fairness being prepared for submission.
