French Student Protests Escalate Over School Conditions

Paris:French students continued to blockade high schools and protest this morning as part of a nationwide movement led by youth groups demanding action from President Emmanuel Macron's government on staff shortages and deteriorating school facilities.

According to Thai News Agency, teenagers from public and private schools, along with pre-university students, have set up barricades using trash cans in front of several schools in Paris and Strasbourg. The protesters view their actions as a fight not just for themselves but for all young people in the country.

These demonstrations follow two weeks of protests that initially began in the suburbs of Paris before spreading nationwide. The government's response included deploying riot police, citing that the protests had escalated into urban violence.

Prime Minister Sebastián Lecornu has instructed ministers to swiftly address the students' main demands. These include hiring replacement teachers for those on leave, reassessing the school schedule from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and extending lunch breaks. Additionally, the government will consider repairing the dilapidated school buildings.
