Bangkok:Thailand is set to host a global conference, with the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) consolidating its cybersecurity monitoring network for full-scale operations from October 10-19.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister, emphasized the importance of cybersecurity as a fundamental element of national trust, particularly as Thailand prepares to host the World Bank Group-IMF Annual Meetings in 2026. This event will gather policymakers, financial institutions, and businesses from around the globe.
Under the supervision of Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, the National Cyber Security Commission (NCSC) has integrated operations through the ThaiCERT center, in collaboration with partners such as the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) and the National Telecommunications Public Company Limited (NT). An intensive operational period from October 10-19, 2026, will feature continuous 24-hour monitoring.
This initiative takes a comprehensive approach, extending beyond the conference venue to include critical infrastructure such as air traffic control systems, airports, rail systems, electricity, utilities, telecommunications, the internet, and roughly 1,000 government and agency websites.
The operations center and ThaiCERT will function as key mechanisms for receiving reports, analyzing situations, and coordinating responses. They have prepared threat response and rapid response teams to support depending on incident severity and have conducted joint drills with relevant agencies to ensure immediate responses to anomalies.
Ms. Ratchada highlighted that the cybersecurity efforts are designed to protect not only the conference venue's IT systems but also the essential systems connected to the entire event. The aim is to ensure a secure, continuous, and reliable conference while demonstrating Thailand's capacity to host international events.
She also noted that the cybersecurity preparedness will bolster the country's economic and investment confidence, with benefits extending beyond the conference. The standards and experiences gained will help enhance the security of digital infrastructure and services for citizens, reflecting the government's dedication to improving digital security for all.
