Bangkok: GC is preparing to restart its olefins plant this April to enhance the production of polypropylene (PP) plastic pellets, which are crucial for various industrial applications.
According to Thai News Agency, PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited (GC) has announced its continuous operation at full capacity for polyethylene (PE) plastic pellets production, ensuring a stable domestic supply despite global market volatility. The company is set to resume the production of PP plastic pellets at its olefins plant in April, following planned maintenance, to meet increasing demand.
PE plastic pellets, which include HDPE, LDPE, and LLDP, are essential raw materials in the manufacturing of consumer goods such as plastic bags, bottle caps, and food wrap films. These materials are also used in infrastructure equipment like water pipes and electrical conduits. GC is committed to prioritizing domestic demand and maintaining delivery schedules to support the uninterrupted operations of local businesses.
GC's integrated value chain structure plays a pivotal role in maintaining production continuity. This structure allows for flexible management of raw materials and production processes, using internal feedstocks to mitigate risks associated with global market fluctuations and supply chain constraints.
The tight supply of PP plastic pellets, used in food packaging and industrial goods, has posed challenges. To address this, GC's olefins plant will soon resume production, increasing the capacity to produce propylene, the raw material for PP plastic pellets. This move is expected to support domestic producers and the broader industrial chain.
GC collaborates with government agencies, private sector partners, and other stakeholders to manage the supply chain efficiently, from raw materials through to product delivery, ensuring a steady flow of products to customers.
