Bangkok: Global travel trends are witnessing significant growth, with Southeast Asia emerging as the most frequently visited destination.

According to Thai News Agency, Trip.com Group's outlook for global travel at the end of 2025 reveals that global travelers are expected to make an average of 2.4 international flights per person annually, with each flight averaging 4.6 hours. Travelers from Southeast Asia, particularly from countries like Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, are leading the way, averaging more than three flights per person per year, indicating a robust recovery in international travel.

Booking data for 2026 highlights Japan as the top destination for travelers worldwide, with South Korea and Thailand also ranking among the top global destinations. Major cities such as Tokyo and Osaka are projected to be among the top 10 most popular destinations, with millennials and Gen Z making up nearly half of all bookings.

China and Turkey have also emerged as top markets for 2026, driven by global trends in cultural, nature, and entertainment tourism, including theme parks, concerts, and popular shows. Destinations like Shanghai, Tokyo, Bangkok, and various European cities remain popular, reflecting the expanding global tourism trends anticipated for the coming year.
