Udon Thani: An audacious robbery unfolded in Udon Thani as a thief, disguised in a rider costume and wielding a toy gun, made off with gold necklaces valued at 1.6 million baht from a local shopping mall. The police are actively pursuing the suspect, with CCTV footage providing crucial insights into the robbery and escape routes. Authorities suspect that the gold shop was specifically targeted by the robber.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident took place when the robber, dressed in a rider’s uniform, rode a yellow Honda Click motorcycle into the shopping mall. Within a swift 30 seconds, he managed to steal 22 one-baht gold necklaces. The entire event was captured on CCTV, which is now aiding the investigation.
Pol. Lt. Col. Pichet Pakketathi, Deputy Director of Investigation at Udon Thani City Police Station, held a meeting with the investigation team to strategize the pursuit of the criminal. The latest CCTV footage has revealed critical details about the perpetrator’s approach and escape routes. However, the police need more time to analyze the findings thoroughly. There is still uncertainty about the authenticity of the food delivery rider’s uniform and whether the crime was executed by a professional. Initial investigations indicate that the perpetrator likely scouted the area beforehand, deliberately choosing this particular gold shop among three others in the vicinity.
Authorities have urged the public to report any sightings of individuals resembling the suspect or those using a yellow Honda Click motorcycle to the Udon Thani City Police Station.
