Bangkok: The government is rapidly advancing the issuance of regulations to screen loans amounting to 400 billion baht, facilitating the proposal of projects for funding under the emergency decree. Ekniti Nitithanpraphas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, emphasized the urgency of establishing the "Thai Help Thai Plus" project, which is currently being submitted to the screening committee before presentation to the Cabinet.
According to Thai News Agency, Ekniti detailed the progress of the "Thai Help Thai Plus" project, which involves a funding structure where the government will cover 60% and the public will contribute 40%. The project awaits the issuance of borrowing regulations by the screening committee, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Once these regulations are finalized, agencies will be invited to propose projects that align with the project's objectives, focusing on alleviating economic hardship, providing public relief, and addressing the energy transition through five key principles.
These principles include targeting objectives, facilitating an effective long-term transition, implementing post-crisis reforms, ensuring transparency, and fostering collaboration with experts from the Joint Committee of the Private Sector. Ekniti also addressed inquiries regarding the project's timeline, stating that finalizing the regulations is a priority before any submissions to the screening committee or Cabinet meetings.
The government aims to expedite the regulatory process to swiftly implement the "Thai Help Thai Plus" project, ensuring that it effectively supports the public and addresses economic challenges.
