Government Launches ‘Thai Helps Thai’ Initiative to Boost Small Business Ownership

Bangkok: The government launched "Thai Helps Thai Franchise for Job Creation Plus" to support Thais in owning their own businesses. The government provides investment subsidies of up to 10,000 baht, along with free sales space for 6 months.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government is moving forward with the "Thai Helps Thai" policy to create job opportunities, increase income, and expand opportunities for people to become business owners. The government is preparing to officially launch the "Thai Helps Thai Franchise for Jobs Plus" project in July 2026 to support those who wish to start a business through a standardized franchise system that can be developed into a real career.

The deputy spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office stated that participants in the program will receive government support for 50% of the franchise package value, up to a maximum of 10,000 baht per applicant for franchises valued at no more than 100,000 baht. They will also receive support in terms of funding sources, special-rate loans, payment systems, and loan guarantees to reduce the burden of costs and obstacles in starting a business.

In addition, participants in the program can use sales and service areas in over 2,000 Lotus and Makro branches nationwide free of charge for a period of 6 months, helping to increase sales channels, reach consumers more quickly, and increase opportunities to generate income from the start of their business.

Ms. Lalida stated that the project aims to create opportunities for people to own their own businesses and to support Thai franchise entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses to a high standard. Franchises participating in the project must pass a qualification review based on established criteria to build confidence among investors and increase their chances of business success.

Interested individuals can choose to invest in participating franchise businesses through the website ThaiHelpThaiFranchise.dbd.go.th starting July 1, 2026. Meanwhile, existing franchise businesses can apply to participate in the project to expand their business base and reach potential investors nationwide.

'This project is another important mechanism for creating jobs, careers, and increasing opportunities for people to have sustainable income through support in terms of investment, funding sources, and marketing channels. It helps strengthen the grassroots economy, distribute income to communities, and create new entrepreneurs throughout the country,' Ms. Lalida said.
