Bangkok: The government reiterated that it is not canceling the Social Security Board election, but merely postponing it temporarily as per the court order. It affirmed that this will not affect the rights of employers and insured persons, and that it is prepared to appeal the order and protect the rights of insured persons.

According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongsalooykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that following the Central Administrative Court's temporary injunction suspending the enforcement of the registration requirement for eligible voters, the government and relevant agencies respect the legal process. They are ready to proceed with a review to adjust operational plans in accordance with the court order, protect the rights of employers and insured persons, and maintain transparency in fund management.

This court order only suspends the conditions in the announcement that bind voting rights to registration, and is not an order to cancel the entire election process. The Ministry of Labour needs to adjust its operational plan to comply with the law and will prepare an appeal against the order so that the election can proceed as soon as possible.

Captain Patradarasmi emphasized that, given the court's temporary injunction, the relevant agencies could not immediately proceed according to the original framework and must await legal consequences to avoid actions that might violate the court order. Regarding the approaches currently under consideration, including appealing the court order or establishing new registration conditions, the Social Security Office, under the Ministry of Labour, will expedite action once the legal issues are clarified to avoid impacting the voting rights of employers and insured persons.
