Bangkok: Public comments on early retirement measures for civil servants are being accepted until August 5th. The government is seeking public opinion on these measures, inviting all sectors to submit comments until August 5. It revealed that over ten thousand people have already submitted their feedback.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government prioritizes the development of the civil service system and public sector human resource management, while maintaining fiscal discipline. The government supports the first round of public consultations on the early retirement measure for civil servants, which the Civil Service Commission (CSC) is conducting through the central legal system from July 22 to August 5, 2026. This process allows civil servants, stakeholders, and the public to submit their opinions and suggestions before the measure is considered and revised to ensure it is appropriate, comprehensive, and aligns with long-term public sector human resource management. So far, over ten thousand people have submitted their opinions, demonstrating public enthusiasm and participation in shaping public sector human resource management guidelines. The government emphasizes listening to all perspectives to ensure transparent, eff icient policy-making that addresses the needs of national administration.

The spokesperson for the Prime Minister noted that this public consultation aligns with the government's budget management approach, following the House of Representatives' approval in principle of the 2027 fiscal year budget bill. This reflects the reality that recurring expenditures, particularly personnel costs, medical expenses, and pensions, are projected to increase continuously and collectively account for over 70% of total recurring expenses. Meanwhile, the government continues to improve public sector efficiency through the adoption of digital technology, streamlining the civil service system, and managing workforce to align with the missions of each agency. This aims to enhance public service delivery while ensuring cost-effective and sustainable budget utilization. 'These measures are still in the public consultation phase and have not yet come into effect. The government is ready to listen to feedback from all sectors to inform future decisions. All opinions will be crucial in developing appropria te policies that strike a balance between public sector human resource management and maintaining national fiscal discipline,' Ms. Rachada said.
