Government Sets Up Task Force to Enhance Law Enforcement and Social Order

Bangkok: The government has launched a new initiative to bolster social order enforcement across the nation by establishing a special task force under the Ministry of Interior. This task force is designed to aggressively target offenders, enforce laws stringently, and submit detailed reports every 30 days.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is leading efforts to enhance social order and public safety. The newly formed Special Task Force for Social Order aims to synchronize efforts among administrative agencies at all levels, intensifying the crackdown on illegal activities and ensuring rigorous, transparent, and accountable law enforcement.

Mr. Polpeera Suwannachawi, Deputy Minister of Interior, presided over the inaugural meeting of the Ministry's Social Order Task Force in 2026. He emphasized the Prime Minister's principle of "keeping names confidential, focusing on behavior" to promote unbiased law enforcement. The task force is instructed to act swiftly against various offenses such as drug trafficking, crime, cyber fraud, money laundering, and any actions disrupting social order.

The Ministry has also directed local authorities to proactively monitor high-risk areas and investigate potential violations promptly, rather than waiting for public complaints. Priority areas include unlicensed entertainment venues, identity fraud, illegal issuance of documents, and activities that may lead to exploitation of the country's resources by foreign entities.

In parallel, the government is advancing public service delivery through digital technology. This involves developing systems for complaints, social listening, online registration, and consultations for permits, aiming to enhance accessibility and responsiveness of government services. The initiative also focuses on data analysis to update operations and legislation in line with evolving needs.

To ensure accountability, the Ministry of Interior's task force will evaluate progress monthly, reporting outcomes and achievements to leadership and the public. This approach is intended to reinforce confidence in the government's commitment to effective law enforcement and social order.

Ms. Lalida reaffirmed the government's dedication to impartial law enforcement, integration of all sectors to maintain social order, and ensuring public safety, aiming to build trust through concrete results.
