Governor Chatchart Restructures Bangkok Administration for Enhanced City Management

Bangkok: Governor Chatchart Sittipunt has implemented a strategic reorganization of Bangkok's administrative structure, delegating distinct responsibilities to four deputy governors to enhance operational efficiency and address urban challenges more effectively. The restructuring aims to ensure rapid and coordinated policy implementation while addressing the diverse needs of the city's residents.

According to Thai News Agency, Governor Chatchart signed Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Order No. 1882/2569, which delegates authority to the Deputy Governors to issue orders and perform duties on behalf of the Governor. This move aligns with Sections 55 and 81 of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Act B.E. 2528 (1985) and is set to take effect from July 9, 2026. The new structure assigns each Deputy Governor specific agencies to oversee, based on their areas of expertise.

Mr. Wisanu Thrapsompol, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, will handle the Department of Public Works, Drainage Department, and several others, focusing on public works and financial management. Ms. Thawida Kamolwech is tasked with overseeing the Office of Strategy and Evaluation, Medical Department, and related agencies, with a concentration on health and disaster prevention. Mr. Shanon Wangsaengboon will manage the Office of Education and the Bureau of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, among others, emphasizing education and social development. Lastly, Mr. Pornprom Na.S. Wikitseth will supervise the Environmental Office and municipal affairs, focusing on environmental health and sanitation.

The reorganization also includes provisions for the seamless transfer of responsibilities if any Deputy Governor is unable to perform their duties, ensuring continuity in governance. In cases where the Governor himself is unavailable, a predefined order of succession among the Deputy Governors will take effect, starting with Mr. Wisanu Thrapsompol.

This strategic administrative overhaul aims to drive efficiency in Bangkok's governance, ensuring that the city's mission to solve urban problems and improve residents' quality of life is pursued effectively.
