Nakhon ratchasima: The Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, Dr. Kongsak Yodmani, expressed confidence in the competitive nature of the upcoming 13th ASEAN Para Games set to take place in Nakhon Ratchasima. The event will serve as a crucial qualifying ground for the 5th Asian Para Games in Japan, focusing on athletics, swimming, weightlifting, and cycling as key sports. According to Thai News Agency, Thailand is gearing up to host the ASEAN Para Games from January 20-26, 2026, featuring 19 sports including archery, badminton, and various disciplines in wheelchair sports, with 493 gold medals at stake. This year's event holds significant importance as it contributes to the qualification process for the Asian Para Games scheduled in Nagoya, Japan. Dr. Kongsak noted the importance of the ASEAN Para Games, highlighting the participation of strong contenders such as Indonesia, which is expected to bring a robust team.
