Governor Chatchart Unveils Upgraded Green Bridge and Lumpini Dog Park Plans

Bangkok: Governor Chatchart Sittipunt recently led a tour of the renovated Green Bridge, highlighting improvements such as the removal of stairs and the addition of slopes to enhance the cycling and walking experience. He also visited the future site of Lumpini Dog Park, which is scheduled to open on February 7, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, the inspection was attended by Mr. Wisanu Trapsompol, Deputy Governor, and the Bangkok Environmental Department team. The Green Bridge improvement project, spanning approximately 1,600 meters, aims to connect over 810 rai of green space between two parks. Initially, the bridge was impeded by numerous stairs, posing challenges for wheelchair users, cyclists, and runners. In response, the bridge has been upgraded with ramps adhering to the Universal Design concept, along with new seating areas and tree plantings. The project is on track, with landscaping and lighting installation as the final tasks, expected to complete by May 2026.

Efforts are being made to ensure the security of the lighting system to prevent wire theft, and there is an ongoing request for cooperation in maintaining the sport surface walkway. Additionally, preparations are being made to address issues related to dogs on the bridge by potentially repositioning entrance gates.

On the Lumpini Park side, a new entrance has been opened via Witthayu Road following the demolition of a badminton court building to accommodate the park's renovation. The 2-rai "Lumpini Dog Park" area, developed in collaboration with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bangkok, will feature a Japanese garden style. The park is nearing completion with only landscaping pending. It will include fenced zones for dogs, with separate areas for small and large dogs, and plans to consult Japanese experts to establish safe usage rules.
