Hat yai: The government is accelerating the completion of the Hat Yai housing repair project, aiming to pay for all house repairs by March. Mr. Paradorn Prisnanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, revealed the progress in flood relief payments in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. He stated that the government is continuously accelerating assistance to the public, including the 9,000 baht relief payment and housing repair funds. Regarding the 9,000 baht relief payment, Hat Yai District has almost completed 100% of the process. Only a few hundred cases remain where the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation found that the transfer was unsuccessful, due to issues with linked PromptPay accounts or inactive accounts. The district has now forwarded these cases to local administrative organizations for further verification and to expedite the resolution of these problems.
According to Thai News Agency, for residential repair subsidies, up to 49,500 baht per household, as of February 26, 2026, Hat Yai District has submitted approval documents for 11,853 households, totaling 184 million baht, from the Provincial Disaster Relief Committee meeting. Payments are expected to be made in early March.
Mr. Paradorn further stated that the Deputy Governor of Songkhla Province has instructed Hat Yai District to expedite the process with Hat Yai Municipality and surrounding local administrative organizations to submit documents to the district office as soon as possible. This is to facilitate the weekly meeting of the Provincial Disbursement Committee (PDC) for approval and prompt disbursement within the strict timeframe.
The Songkhla Provincial, district, and municipal authorities have jointly mobilized resources to fully consider and approve financial assistance. In Hat Yai Municipality, approximately 6,000-7,000 households out of more than 10,000 have already had their eligibility reviewed. Officials are able to verify an average of 2,000-3,000 cases per day to meet the deadline.
Similar progress has been made in local administrative organizations in the outer areas, including Khlong Hae Municipality, Kho Hong Municipality, Khuan Lang Municipality, Ban Phru Municipality, and Thung Tam Sao Municipality.
Regarding the financial assistance criteria, the 49,500 baht is the maximum amount for cases where a permanent residence is completely destroyed. For cases of partial damage, the payment will be based on the actual damage assessed by a team of technicians. Therefore, the amount of money received will vary for each household depending on the severity of the damage.
The Songkhla province has scheduled the first payment installment for early March 2026, using Hat Yai Municipality as a pilot area, and will expedite the process to reach all households by the end of March.
Mr. Paradorn further stated that the government aims to ensure that all affected households receive full, transparent, and timely compensation according to their rights. He urged the public to be confident that all agencies are working diligently to expedite the process.
