Sa kaeo: The issue regarding compensation for a completely destroyed house in the Nong Ya Kaeo area has been clarified. The family initially reported to have received only 5,700 baht in compensation will indeed receive the full amount of 230,000 baht as per the established criteria.
According to Thai News Agency, officials have clarified that the initial confusion arose from the distinction between the compensation for the house and that for the shop in front of it. The shop, which lacks a house number, received 5,700 baht as per regulations for structures not meeting the main assistance criteria. The house itself, assessed by the Khok Sung district chief and related officials, suffered over 70 percent damage, thus qualifying for the full compensation of 230,000 baht. Additional assistance from several agencies has also been promised to ease concerns.
Mr. Naris Palakawong Na Ayutthaya, the District Chief of Khok Sung, emphasized the importance of adhering to the guidelines, warning that failure to do so might result in the loss of eligibility for compensation. The district chief confirmed that demolition of the damaged structures is scheduled, and further assessments will be conducted on occupational tools, kitchenware, clothing, and bedding to provide additional assistance.
Efforts are being prioritized for approximately 10 households that were completely destroyed, with plans to conduct assessments on more than 100 houses in the coming days. The Provincial Department of Public Works and Town Planning, along with other relevant agencies, will meet to strategize on clearing the area and providing aid to the affected residents.
