Bangkok: The Minister of Education is preparing to organize "National Children's Day 2026" under the concept of 'Excellence in Learning and Morality,' opening four learning zones to enhance the holistic development of Thai children. He confirmed that schools in border areas will remain open, ensuring no educational interruption for children.
According to Thai News Agency, Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, held a press conference to discuss the organization of National Children's Day 2026. This year, the Ministry of Education is hosting a grand event themed "Excellent Learning, Moral Values," aiming to foster holistic development in Thai children and youth in terms of intellect, morality, ethics, and life skills. Since 1955, the Ministry has continuously held National Children's Day, acknowledging children and youth as the country's most vital human resource. As such, child development is approached holistically, encompassing physical, intellectual, emotional, and moral growth, to nurture quality citizens for society and the nation.
Professor Dr. Narumon elaborated that this year's event includes activities that allow children and youth to learn through real-life experiences, divided into four main zones:
Zone 1, 'Light of Wisdom,' enhances knowledge of history, civics, international relations, and science, offering insights into government operations and Thailand's international role.
Zone 2, 'Creative Earth Lab,' promotes analytical thinking, creativity, and innovation through experimental activities and environmental learning.
Zone 3, 'Sufficiency for Happiness,' imparts the philosophy of a sufficiency economy, focusing on moderate living and sustainable happiness.
Zone 4, 'Water Wonder Zone (Little House in the Big Forest),' raises awareness of water resources and nature conservation through engaging activities.
The event features performances by artists and youth role models, inspirational activities, and over 100,000 free gifts for children and youth. Online activities via social media also offer special prizes. A QR code will guide participants to National Children's Day activities nationwide in 2026.
The Minister of Education emphasized that provincial education offices are collaborating with local agencies to ensure equal access to activities across all areas, while upholding national, religious, and monarchic values. These activities are aligned with educational policies.
'National Children's Day is not just a day of fun but a platform for instilling lifelong learning, morality, and social responsibility, preparing Thai children and youth to contribute to the country's stable and sustainable development. The Ministry invites children and parents to the event on January 10, 2026, at the Ministry of Education premises, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM,' stated Prof. Dr. Narumon.
Professor Dr. Narumon also addressed the situation in border provinces affected by unrest, confirming all schools have reopened without educational disruption. The Office of Basic Education Commission is organizing Children's Day activities in these areas, with support from the private sector, to bring happiness and encouragement to children and youth in the border provinces.
