Samila beach: HTMS Chakri Naruebet anchored at Samila Beach and immediately launched flood relief efforts in Hat Yai. The mission was to deliver supplies and help those in critical areas affected by the disaster.

According to Thai News Agency, on November 27, 2015, after departing the Royal Thai Navy base in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, around 11:00 PM on the night of November 25, a journey that took nearly 24 hours, HTMS Chakri Naruebet anchored at Samila Beach around 10:00 PM. The nearly 24-hour journey was due to the ship being loaded with over 20 tons of consumer goods donated by citizens the previous day, limiting its speed to just 16 knots per hour (approximately 20 km/h).

Throughout the journey on HTMS Chakri Naruebet, navy personnel, including soldiers and officers from the Royal Thai Navy Medical Department, separated items into sections, including drinking water, rice, dried food, medicine, clothing, and various other relief equipment for disaster victims, before packing them on board throughout the day.

In addition, more than 12 flat-bottomed boats have been prepared for the Navy’s urgent missions: 1. Transport food, drinking water, and relief supplies to people trapped in hard-to-reach disaster areas; 2. Move and evacuate people from critical areas where safety risks exist; 3. Support local agencies in initial recovery efforts; and 4. Evacuate damaged areas, particularly the first two, which must be addressed immediately.

A helicopter landing pad has also been prepared, where two Royal Thai Navy helicopters will be deployed to assist critically ill victims and deliver food and supplies to them.

Early this morning (27 November), the kitchen on the Royal Ship, which is the royal kitchen of HTMS Chakri Naruebet, was immediately opened to prepare cooked food and deliver it to the public, 3,000 meals a day, at various locations.
