Ink-Aem Delivers Jasmine Flowers to Thaksin Amidst Prosecutor’s Appeal

Bangkok: “Ink-Aem” made her 19th visit to former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra at Klong Prem Central Prison, bringing jasmine flowers to honor him. This visit coincided with her mother’s birthday, a day when the family traditionally pays respects to their parents. Despite the significance of the visit, “Ink-Aem” refrained from answering questions related to the ongoing legal issues surrounding Thaksin, including the prosecutor’s appeal of the 112 case and the VIP prison privileges controversy.

According to Thai News Agency, former Prime Ministers Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Pinthongtha Shinawatra Kunakornwong were present during the visit, which saw a gathering of supporters outside the prison. The supporters attempted to offer Thaksin sticky rice and grilled chicken, a local delicacy from Sisaket Province, but were not permitted to pass the items to Thaksin by the officials on site.

The visit lasted over an hour, during which Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra shared that the occasion was to honor her father’s role within the family on her mother’s birthday. However, when pressed about the legal proceedings concerning Thaksin, she simply stated that legal matters would be handled by their lawyers and declined further comment.

The issue of Chinese inmates allegedly receiving VIP privileges in the Bangkok Special Prison was also raised. When asked if Thaksin was aware of similar privileges at Klong Prem Prison, none of Thaksin’s children commented. The family promptly left the scene after engaging briefly with their supporters, opting not to address the media’s inquiries on these matters.
