Ink Contemplates Bringing Grandchildren to Visit Thaksin on Children’s Day

Klong prem central prison: "Ink" visited "Thaksin," revealing she is considering bringing her grandchildren for a closer visit on Children's Day. She thanked the prison for organizing the event.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, also known as Ing, along with her husband, Mr. Pitak Sukhsawat, and her personal lawyer, Mr. Vinyat Chatmontri, visited former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra for one hour. After the visit, Ms. Paetongtarn revealed that today marked the end of her four-month detention period. Regarding politics, her father had a message for party members, urging them to maintain unity and avoid conflict or disagreement, as unity is the best approach.

Regarding the possibility of close visitation with children on January 11th, which coincides with National Children's Day organized by the Department of Corrections, Ms. Paetongtarn stated that the family is still considering whether to exercise this right. She added that some Red Shirt supporters were still present outside Klong Prem Central Prison, giving Ms. Paetongtarn amulets.

Mr. Winyat, the lawyer, revealed that the process of reserving the close visitation rights on January 11th is currently underway. He thanked the prison for organizing this activity for the children of all inmates equally. Inmates who have not violated disciplinary rules, including Mr. Thaksin, will have the right to visit on January 11th, in both morning and afternoon sessions. Regarding whether Mr. Thaksin's grandchildren will be allowed close visits, this is still under consideration due to the number of grandchildren. The lawyer will provide an update on the progress of these visits.

Regarding the reopening of family visits at Klong Prem Central Prison on January 11th, this will allow children to visit inmates. Close-contact family visits will resume on January 12th for well-behaved inmates under the "Family Relations (Discipline)" program. These visits will be available in the morning from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Reservations for visits can be made between January 5th and 8th, either in person at the prison or online. Only 60 inmates have been trained for this program. Relatives can check the list of eligible inmates at the Family Visit Office, Tel. 0-2001-3640.
