EOD Team Retrieves Unexploded Ordnance from Nong Ri Village

Trat: An ordnance disposal unit has successfully recovered unexploded ordnance from Nong Ri village, Chamrak sub-district, Mueang Trat district, Trat province.

According to Thai News Agency, the sub-district headman claims that Cambodia intentionally targeted the community, and there is a belief that many more unexploded ordnances remain.

The ordnance disposal unit focused on retrieving unexploded ordnance left over from past Thai-Cambodian conflicts at Ban Nong Ri, Chamrak Subdistrict, Mueang District, Trat Province. The team identified two key locations: a village road and the base of a durian tree in a villager's orchard. Trat EOD officers, along with naval ordnance personnel, utilized a small backhoe to excavate more than 2 meters into the ground, successfully clearing both ejection points.

The headman of Chamrak subdistrict expressed concerns over Cambodia's alleged targeting of community areas that were not involved in the clashes. The exact number of unexploded ordnances is unknown, but many are believed to still be present, particularly in forested areas. A further survey of the surrounding area is planned to ensure the safety of the village residents.
