Ink Waruntorn Vows Full Legal Action Over AI-Generated Obscene Video

Bangkok: Police reveal that Ink Waruntorn hopes to catch the perpetrators quickly after a pornographic video was created using AI. They vow to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. Famous singer Ink Waruntorn, whose AI-powered, obscene images were edited and distributed on social media, has suffered damage. Today (December 1, 2015) at 11:00 a.m., Ink Waruntorn met with Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepo, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), with a calm expression and a wai to the media. She then filed a report with the TCSD Division 1 investigators at the Technology Crime Suppression Division headquarters. The case is now under legal proceedings.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Sirawat Deepo, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), revealed that Ink Waruntorn initially met with investigators to file complaints against users of four social media accounts that posted messages that harmed her. One post involved an AI-powered, obscene video clip. The obscene video clip is a violation of Section 14(4) of the Computer Crimes Act, which carries a penalty of up to five years imprisonment and a fine of up to 100,000 baht. The other three posts involved messages that caused damage, such as those that claimed to sell services, constituting defamation by advertising. In addition to criminal offenses, there are also civil offenses for which the victim can seek damages from the perpetrator.

The TCSD Commander revealed that investigators are currently questioning and collecting four accounts to determine who is responsible. Ink Waruntorn is currently unavailable to give media interviews, as she did not expect to encounter the incident herself, and is therefore not at ease. However, after speaking with officials, the police will expedite the investigation and identify the perpetrators. If the perpetrator is identified, an arrest warrant will be issued and prosecution initiated. Ink’s goal is to catch the perpetrator quickly so that the perpetrator will feel they have to pay for their actions. While this offense can be settled, it’s up to the victim to discuss it with the perpetrator. However, she insists that if the perpetrator is apprehended, she will pursue the case to the fullest extent of the law. She herself will not give in, as it will damage the reputation of the victim.

The Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD) commander also advised those who attempt to commit crimes, saying the punishment is not light and should not be done. It is a disgrace. Anyone who attempts to forward information is considered to be an extension of the investigation and is also guilty. Therefore, they should not do so. They should only speak up about their first offense. Anyone who forwards information, regardless of the method used, can also be prosecuted.
