Nonthaburi: The Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) has disbursed compensation to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic shooting incident at Thepsirin Nonthaburi School.
According to Thai News Agency, the OIC, represented by Deputy Secretary-General Ms. Wasumdee Wasinon and other executives, along with representatives from the insurance industry, held a ceremony to present compensation and relief funds to the heirs of the deceased. The event took place at the Nonthaburi Provincial Hall, where government officials from the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection, under the Ministry of Justice, provided relief funds amounting to 1,800,000 baht in total. Each of the six victims' families received 300,000 baht as part of the support.
During the ceremony, the insurance industry also presented additional compensation totaling 1,303,169 baht to the heirs. Viriyah Insurance Public Company Limited offered 600,000 baht to each of the six heirs. Thanachart Insurance Public Company Limited provided 100,000 baht to one heir under an accident insurance policy, while Prudential Life Insurance (Thailand) Public Company Limited gave 603,169 baht to one heir under a group credit insurance policy.
The OIC expressed its deepest condolences and support to the affected families, emphasizing its commitment to providing compensation according to the insured benefits to help alleviate the burden of loss. The organization also pledged to coordinate with relevant agencies to integrate the insurance system as a key mechanism for mitigating societal risks.
