International Media Taken to Chong Chom to Unveil Scammer Network Hideout

Chong chom: The Thai-Cambodian Information Center opened the Chong Chom border crossing to international media, clearly identifying it as a hotspot for scammers and a threat to the global community. Thailand reiterated its readiness to cooperate with all countries to end transnational fraud.

According to Thai News Agency, on March 12, 2026, the Thai-Cambodian Situation Information Center led a group of international journalists to the Thai-Cambodian border to reveal the facts about online crime and transnational fraud networks, which are threatening people worldwide. Air Chief Marshal Praphas Sonjaidee, Director of the Thai-Cambodian Situation Information Center, led the delegation to gather factual information and examine evidence related to online crime and the security situation along the border.

The purpose of this field visit is to foster a correct understanding within the global community and to emphasize the necessity of international cooperation in addressing transnational crime. This aligns with Joint Statement No. 10 of the Special Session of the Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, in which both sides agreed to strengthen international cooperation to combat transnational criminal networks and online fraud.

The information center stated that online fraud is a global threat, with criminal networks interconnected across multiple countries. Therefore, it cannot be solved by blaming any single party, but requires genuine, transparent, and responsible cooperation from all sectors.

In response to the dissemination of information and allegations through some online media channels that are distorted and may cause misunderstandings regarding Thailand's role in addressing transnational crime, the Information Center clarified Thailand's firm stance against transnational crime and all forms of online fraud. They emphasized proactive measures in law, security, and international cooperation, urging all parties to fulfill their obligations and cooperate practically, such as exchanging intelligence, enforcing the law, assisting victims, and dismantling criminal networks.

Thailand calls for international cooperation, warning that accusations without verifiable evidence undermine efforts. The country is ready to work with all nations and organizations to end transnational fraud and ensure global safety.
