Italian Tower Collapses Twice During Renovation, Resulting in One Fatality and Multiple Injuries

Rome: A tragic event unfolded in Rome as the Torre de’ Conti tower experienced two collapses during renovation work, leading to the death of one worker and injuries to several others. The incident has prompted authorities to initiate an urgent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapses.

According to Thai News Agency, the initial collapse of the 29-meter-tall historical tower occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. local time. Tragically, a Romanian worker who was injured in the first collapse succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the hospital. Another Romanian worker received immediate assistance and is reported to be in stable condition, with no life-threatening injuries. Additionally, two other workers sustained minor injuries but declined hospital treatment.

The second collapse took place about 90 minutes after the first, while firefighters were actively engaged in securing the site using an aerial ladder. Fortunately, no firefighters were injured during the second collapse. Italian authorities have since cordoned off the area and are conducting thorough inspections of the construction site to prevent any further incidents and ensure safety.
