Bangkok: Japan has celebrated the opening of a museum dedicated to Shintaro Tsuji, the founder of Sanrio Co., the company behind the iconic Hello Kitty character. This new cultural landmark is located in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo, and officially opened its doors on Friday.

According to Thai News Agency, the "Strawberry King Museum" traces the life and achievements of Shintaro Tsuji, the 98-year-old honorary president of Sanrio. It highlights the company's evolution from its origins as the Yamanashi Silk Center, founded by Tsuji in 1960. Visitors can explore various displays featuring past merchandise and collectibles of Sanrio characters.

The museum's opening ceremony was attended by Hello Kitty and Strawberry King, characters that symbolize Mr. Tsuji's legacy. During the event, Tsuji reflected on his motivation to establish the company, which stemmed from his desire for a world where "everyone could live together happily and harmoniously," a perspective shaped by his experiences during wartime air raids.

Situated in Kai City, the museum operates from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closes on Tuesdays, except during public holidays. Visitors must make reservations for their viewing times. Admission is priced at 1,800 yen (approximately 430 baht) for adults and 1,500 yen (approximately 360 baht) for high school and university students. Additionally, a 5,800 yen (approximately 1,390 baht) package is available, offering limited-edition merchandise.
